(More customer reviews)Our old fluorescent tank hood was falling apart (embrittled plastic parts), so I searched for a replacement. The LED is not as bright at the original fluorescent, BUT has some very appealing effects. The obvious is that the LED uses less power than the fluorescent (and would be significantly more energy efficient than an incandescent lamp). The unexpected positive outcome is that the algae growth in the tank is much slower than before. The new hood is easy to install. I'm very happy with this hood.
