(More customer reviews)At first I didn't think this item worked, because I placed it in my 55 gallon tank horizontally as an option shown in the instructions. Heater never came on. After about 3-4 days, I decided I would try it vertically, like you would normally put a heater in an aquarium, and it has been working perfectly ever since. So, I would recommend this aquarium heater as long as you don't place it sideways in your aquarium.
