(More customer reviews)About 10 yrs ago, I bought a fish feeder from Petco with a barrel that turned twice in 24 hrs. To time the food release correctly, one had to insert the batteries at the exact time. Want a 7:00 cycle? You had to wait til 7:00. The food container was open and tended to cake when it became contaminated with moisture.
This feeder is a complete remake. If you want, you can set the barrel to turn up to 4 times at each feeding. And feeding can be programmed for up to 4 times per day. Pressing the button on the far left makes the barrel turn and dispense food once. This is a needed feature that allows you to measure the amount of food being dispnsed.
The barrel also has a hinged plastic dome that seals the unit from moisture when it turns back up. A word of caution. Pull of the entire clear barrel from the unit before unscrewing it to add food. Don't twist off the clear container until the clear barrel and the black plstic backing have been pulled free of the main unit. The directions were a bit ambiguous. If you are running a 100 gallon, you might want 2 feeders per tank.
