I have one of these on all of my aquariums and they all work well. However, beware that they do not under any circumstances give an accurate temperature reading for the tank. I use them as a quick glance guide to make sure that the heaters are working to keep the water temp. in a certain range [since all my heaters are hidden from view behind plants]. Generally, these are off by +/- 3-5 degrees depending on the temperature differential between the ambient room temp. and that of the aquarium water itself. They seem to be most off when the room is cooler than what the aquarium water temp. should be. So, if you have a very sensitive system which must be maintained at a certain temp. [such as reef aquariums], do yourself the favor and don't rely on this to give you an accurate reading of the water temp. The best tool for this task is an in-aquarium thermometer.
